The author musing here about music and grace and God goes by the name of Ros!  I have a husband (married 27 years) and three daughters. I’ve been many things over the years, particularly a mother, high school teacher, church music director and women’s ministry co-ordinator. All these experiences have come to me from God’s gracious hand, and each day I try to remember that! Our extended family includes a white Maremma dog named Mia and 2 cats, Simon and Catniss.

Why “seven notes of grace”?
The grace refers to God’s grace, which He offers to unworthy people like myself. We can freely receive His forgiveness, peace, hope and love through the saving work of Jesus on the cross. Music is another gracious gift to us: our ability to create, play, sing, communicate with and enjoy it. So the seven refers to the seven notes of the musical scale (yes there are seven, count them A through G), as well as the “completeness” associated with this number in the Bible, and the notes refers to writing (text and music) and musical notes. I was very relieved when this original blog title finally came to me, which encapsulates so many different aspects of who I am, a musical sinner saved by grace.

  3. I love the number seven, my live is covered with it everywhere I turn. I was intrigued by the name seven notes of grace. so glad to “meet” you. following you to hear what God is speaking through you.

  6. Thanks for the visit and the follow. I liked your explanation of the blog’s title. “Seven” is also the number of perfection. Grace is perfect. the Lord Jesus Christ is perfect and gives us perfect righteousness, after dying a death that made perfect atonement for imperfect sinners. God will make us perfect, and eventually all things will be remade perfect. Grace notes indeed!.

    I’m afraid I’m of the generation that still likes the old hymns: Isaac Watts. John Newton, etc. Thanks for your explanations of more recent viewpoints.

    • You don’t need to be afraid of being in that generation! I just haven’t got around to.writing about all those hymns yet which I sang for twenty years growing up. Isaac watts…..the best I think. I’ve done a new tune for one of his, turning verse two into a chorus. Haven’t tested it on a congregation as yet

  14. You know I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time, but I just want to tell you what a blessing your words are. I appreciate that you are a consistent voice of grace and encouragement and I always know I am going to find something uplifting here. So…THANKS.
